Re: Collectible minifigs ever on sale?
I don't know of "sales" per se, but I have gotten a couple for free. I put in a reasonably large order with S@H just around the time series 7 was being retired and series 8 was coming out and they threw in a couple figures as a "VIP thank you gift" according to the note. I'm used...

Re: Modern Motor Appliances in Vintage TRAIN Models
I know this isn't exactly what you asked, but thinking outside the box for a moment, you might consider the fact that toy train motors can push as well as pull. Squeezing a XL motor and IR receiver into the actual locomotive model might be a bit of a pain and/or require reshaping something. I'm part...

Re: LEGO Cuusoo Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover
If this does go through, I hope they increase the scale and add more details. A power functions version with remote control would be cool. I've got the whole Discovery Channel space series and I could see this fitting in with those models quite nicely if it were done right.

Re: Yay or Nay
I'm no professional when it comes to this stuff, but the first rule of collecting for me has always been to bet on the things that _I_ like (just like I prefer to buy stocks in companies whose products I actually _use_) Sometimes I miss the boat (Bioicles did nothing for me but I can't deny that the...

Re: Why minifigures?
@knicky I hear you. I rarely buy kits for the mini-figure (the only real exception to that are the new LotR sets where I think the figures are cooler than the sets themselves). Just this afternoon I was putting together the Grand Emporium, enjoying the build, and pretty much ignoring the figures. I'...

Re: What do you do with your LEGO Catalogs?
I have a dedicated 4 drawer filing cabinet for catalogs and old building instructions. I've got every US catalog since '93 as well as an assortment of mini-flyers of featured sets that they stick in the box when shipping from SAH. Perhaps I need counseling, but I pretty much save everything but the ...

[MOC] LOTR Minas Tirith Microbuild
LC_MT1.JPG The White City, City of Kings, Capital of Gondor Continuing my series of Lord of the Rings micro-builds ( http://lego.cuusoo.com/profile/Shayd_DeGrai#projects ), I humbly offer my interpretation of Minas Tirith, the seven tiered city overlooking the Pelennor Fields and the banks of the t...

Re: What do you do with the LEGO posters?
I have mine prominently "displayed" in a folder in the bottom drawer of my Lego Instruction Book filing cabinet. Maybe some day after I'm long gone they'll end up as a featured item on "Antiques Roadshow: The Next Generation" and will be appraised for slightly more than just thei...

[MOC] LOTR Argonath: King of the Western Shore
"Behold The Argonath, the Pillars of the Kings!" (well, at least the guy on the right...) http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/88133/1336468277m_DISPLAY.jpg "Then he saw that they were indeed shaped and fashioned: the craft and power of old had wrought upon them, and they still pre...

Re: [CUUSOO] Firefly Serenity playset
Yah it's definitely coming from outside fans, and not pure Lego fans. The Question is, will the ppl that vote buy it? I agree, it would be nice to see ideas that are just awesome creations, I guess cuussoo proves why Lego does so many licences in the first place. Personally I never vote on anything...

Re: The Winchester made it to 10,000 votes on CUUSOO!
Ultimately, I don't think it was a question of whether or not the SOTD model would sell (and certainly the quality of the build is more than up to par). I think TLG was far more concerned with the little kid who gets this set because (to a naive parent) it looks like a companion to the Pet Store or ...

Re: Is there something wrong with me?
By Rook's handy definitions, I guess I'm a Builder/Collector. As I look around my office at the moment, I've got nine set unopened, waiting for me to get cracking (or snapping as the case may be). I DO however plan on opening and assembling all of them. Once assembled, I tend not scrap them for part...

Re: Pieces you'd like to see made.
I wish TLG would come out with curve builder bricks. I've made a few by hand just to test out the concept and I think they have a lot of potential both for making traditional (but curved) stacked brick walls as well as stud aligned hinges, funky roof tiles, architectural details, and various SNOT ap...

Re: Painting Bricks
I had to customize a bunch of mini-figures as centerpieces for a wedding once and I found that the combination of a spray primer designed for plastic models (Testors) followed by nail polish and top coated with a clear coat worked well for non-contact surface (painting studs and tubes never holds up...

Re: LEGO Cuusoo Western Town Modular Buildings
I love the set and hope it makes it through, but... it's not going to make it through. Yeah, it might get the 10,000 votes to go to review, but LEGO will take one look at this and decide it's not worth it. With the amount of pieces used that is easily a $200 set, which I just don't think will sell ...

Re: [MOC] LOTR Argonath: King of the Eastern Shore
Impressive, are you planning to build the other statue? The King of the Western Shore is about 90% complete and I'm doing a little re-working of the Eastern Shore statue now that I have more light 'bley' bricks at my disposal. The beard on the second statue keeps coming out a little to flat for my ...

[MOC] LOTR Argonath: King of the Eastern Shore
AESFullFront.JPG I just finished my first draft of the eastern statue of the Lord Of The Rings Argonath. I'll need to rebuild it slightly once replacement parts arrive ( I ran out of light gray bricks). The figure stands 24 inches tall, is built to roughly mini-figure scale and uses about 5000 bric...
