Re: [USA] Target Christmas/Holiday - 70% off

The target practice one is listed on the Target site and you can use the store look up to check inventory to find them. It is listed under Lego value pack for some reason. Not sure how accurate it will be I plan on checking tomorrow. The target I went to today didn't have any and the online check I found tonight says they are out of stock so it might be right.

In case people want to try and check inventort, here are the dcpi numbers:

Target Practice 204000111
HP set: 204000106

I don't know how accurate it would be, but you can try.

ETA: I looked up the numbers and most stores by me say "available", it seems possible that Target has replaced these dcpis with another product? I really don't know how reliable it is so don't get your hopes up (or drive too far).

A sales associate at a Walmart far enough away that I normally wouldn't bother, told me they had Earth Defense HQ in stock, so I hiked out there - only to find that the set wasn't HQ at all but one of the smaller sets. I dragged out of there clutching a lone Blacksmith Attack and sad feelings.

There was a Target right across the street, so I hopped over - and found an almost completely empty Christmas section. There was nothing in the stocking stuffer section at all except 3 Transformer cars, and...hey! 4 HP polys, and 1 target practice poly. I checked the LEGO aisle, and found 3 HP polys among the others. I then checked the checkout aisles and found 3 target practice polys and 3 HP polys mixed in with the SW and City polys. So 10 HP polys and 4 target practice polys overall, and I never would have guessed it upon seeing how bare the Christmas section was.

Not sure it'll work for everyone but I put six of each of the Castle and Star Wars Poly bags in a basket and before checking out walked over to one of the supervisors milling around by the cashiers and explained that the Star Wars bags were ringing at full price and all the bags were supposed to be clearance. He just said to let him know when I was paying and he'd have them adjust it. They did. It was pretty slow in the store at this point.

I went to another store and then when I got in my car I figured it might be worth it to try again and see if the same cashier/supervisor were there. Grabbed 5 more of the Star Wars bags and a couple of the Toy Story ones. This time it was busy and I didn't see the emplyees I had dealt with before. I explained to the cashier what I had paid half an hour earlier but he called another lady who said the price was right so I left them behind.

Doesn't hurt to try asking I guess. You may get lucky.

It sounds like you lied to an employee and essentially stole Lego.

Not really. I was under the impression all the bags WERE on sale, and I paid for them.

I'm not a liar and I'd appreciate it if you didn't refer to me as such.

I shared what happened because I thought someone else might be able to get the clearance
price on a different Poly bag as I did.

I was thinking along the lines of retail fraud.

Wow, seriously guys>?

That's not me.
I saw no harm in asking. Target seems to be pretty arbitrary when it comes to what they clearance and we are talking about small bags of Lego.

...And I don't resell (Ahem!)

Is trying to use a Barnes & Noble coupon that is not meant for Lego fraudulent as well? Just saying.

Ultimately it was the Manager's decision, and he decided to do it. Lucky the manager was a nice guy. No reason to roast someone.

*Edit* - Any GOOD manager should know what is on sale and what is not in his store. When I worked as a manager in retail, I ALWAYS knew what was on sale and what was full price. I also had discretion to change prices (normally based on damaged product, but other exceptions can be made), or total discount (employee purchases, military discount, etc.). Also, just because a Customer tells you something doesn't mean you automatically believe it.... customers lie and give BS stories all the time. That is why I said that Ultimately it was the manager's decision, as he could have easily said "No, it is not in our system at that price."

I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

No, he deliberately deceived that manager who thought that his store had messed up their pricing and he got the exact roasting that he deserves. Bravo forum!

OK that's enough. intromission thought that all the ploybags were on sale and the manager let them go at that price. Let's just drop this discussion, continuing it will just lead to flaming.

I guess you missed the part about me being unaware they WERE NOT all on sale until I read this post. I'm new here. It's not something I was following. Bravo indeed.

And again, if someone can explain to me how trying to get over with a 30, 40, or 50% off coupon (generally used on HIGH PRICED Lego items, generally used on "unaware" clerks) at Barnes & Noble when the coupon states that it excludes Lego is any different, then I'll send you one of these Star Wars bags so you can be happy too.

Enough said.

edit: Sorry moderator. I wrote this while you were posting. I'm done with this topic.

In other news...a bit of a bust in-store this morning. They were trying to trim the clearance section down from three aisles to two, so there was a ton of stuff in carts strewn through the toy section. Everything was still scanning at the stickered clearance price that they had from Friday. The same went for the few polybags and CMFs.

I also noticed on the website that many of the items in the clearance section are listed as "not sold in stores". This prevents you from checking availability of the last few stragglers in nearby stores - bummer.

I went to Target in the Bronx, NY.

All the Targets around here have almost no LEGO in the entire store. Looks like someone ransacked the aisles. I had to laugh that it's still so chaotic.

intromission, you did nothing wrong even if you intentionally knew they were not on sale. Its simply call price negotiation. Now I know who to add on my ignore list. I have worked in retail ages ago and if the store agreed to it, they have their justification. *edited*.

Anyway, I just have to say Targe B&M clearance usually is crappy for premium toys like Lego, people pick them up even with the slightest discount. I find shopping for Target Clearance online using their Red card for free shipping much less chaotic and cheaper on gas chasing different stores just to save a few bucks. Just use your typical hot deals website and put "lego" in email alerts and you're guaranteed to get good deals year round without leaving your computer!

still mostly 15% in mine (a couple items are 30%). I did find 4 more HP polys, today, though.

I went to that store also yesterday. The stuff is still at around 15% off and there mark-up is so high it barely gets the sets back down to MSRP. I saw a bunch of palpatines shuttles marked down to 62.99 off the original price of 69.99 and lots of other stuff in that type of mark down range.
