Hasbro KRE-o gets Star Trek license
Bad news for all of us that wanted Star Trek lego sets.

I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!

Interesting that they're already breaking out into licensed properties so quickly when they own a lot of stuff outright. I also wonder if they're going to try to pry Star Wars away from LEGO, given their contract with LucasFilm for action figures.

Star Trek is nice, but it is nowhere near the franchise value of Star Wars.

Right, which is why, now that we see them already branching out into licensed properties, I think Hasbro might try to wrestle Star Wars away via their major relationship with LucasFilm. I'm almost positive someone in Hasbro's corporate office is working night and day on that.

Aw, too bad. I really wanted Star Trek LEGO. *sigh* I'll have to see what the quality of the Kre-o sets are, but so far, I haven't been impressed by them.
And if they want Star Wars, they'll have to wait 10 years. I know a few different places posted about it, but here's Brickset's post: http://brickset.com/news/article/?ID=2535

Re: Hasbro KRE-o gets Star Trek license
I recently picked up one of the smaller Kreo Transformers sets out of curiosity and the quality of the bricks was pretty good. I like the Kreon design for the transformers as the blocky shoulders and thinner arms looks right for a robot, but I don't like it for people. The Kreons are almost exactly the same size as a minifig, so adding the Kreon transformers to my collection actually still looks pretty good!
Edit: Actually, the brick quality on these is less than impressive. The pieces don't have a tight enough fit to hold together very well and the ball joints seem to be almost rubbery, so they may easily be broken IMO. Still satisfied with the look of the Kreons for Transformers minifigs, although there is a quality issue here too. They LOOK ok but on two of them now one of the legs is really loose at the hip joint and they are difficult to stand on the studs due to the feet not quite squaring up with each other. Also noticied that the headgear can get in the way of moving the arms while posing and cause the helmet to pop off.

Re: Hasbro KRE-o gets Star Trek license
Kreos > MegaBlocks but still not equal to Lego. I have a few Transformers (which, paradoxically, do not transform) and they're a fair product. Some issues with poor design (i.e. this piece gets in the way of that piece, this piece falls off every time I do that, etc) but that's to be expected with a new foray into the realm of building blocks. The Transformers are being discounted now right and left, so you may be able to get a good deal on them. That is, if your Lego budget has some flexibility!
