Missing pieces from "friends"
Missing pieces from "friends"
I recently bought the friends convertible and tree house and both sets were missing pieces. I just thought I'd ask the community if anyone else has been experiencing this. Each set had one piece missing, nothing major, usually one of the tiny extra pieces they throw in. Its no biggie, I'm curious and just thought I'd ask about it.
Re: Missing pieces from "friends"
It's exceedingly rare. Every time I've personally thought I was missing pieces, it turns out I wasn't. A few times the piece was still stuck in a corner of the plastic bag. With the MMV set, I thought I was missing pieces but it turns out I had use a dark bley piece when I should have used a black piece (might have been the other way around). I think I had that same thing happen once with a Creator set too.
I've never actually been missing a piece, but I have had to use Customer Service a few times for broken pieces (Loose battle droid legs in a Star Wars set, misprinted piece, cracked white pieces, cracked minifig torso).

My wife and I got the wrong piece once. It wias a double convex slope instead of a normal 2x2 slope. Otherise we've just had to call about damaged instructions.
Recently, one of the members of our LUG reported that they were missing 11 pieces from the new Town Hall set. So I'm pretty sure it can happen.
If you want the parts just report the issue to LEGO. They'll send you out any parts that are damaged, missing, or wrong in some way for free.

Re: Missing pieces from "friends"
Of the 5 or so Friends sets we've gotten, we have not had any missing pieces.
But I can say that I've had several missing pieces over the past 1.5 years or so. I've never had a very special piece go missing, but it's usually something like a 1x4 tile or maybe a round stud in trans-orange instead of trans-red. Only once did I have a potential build-stopper, I think it was a window missing from Pet Shop - I swapped in the same part from my existing collection. But yeah, missing parts can and do happen, usually in larger sets with 800+ parts.

No missing pieces in any of the friends sets we got.
I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!

Re: Missing pieces from "friends"
I have yet to have missing pieces, but twice I've had non-fully formed pieces. Once was in 1990 for a Blacktron 1 black visor (and I contacted LEGO and they sent the wrong piece, the helmet) and once again last year for white Wedge 6 x 4 Inverted which I was able to swap at Target customer service (it was a polybag). Most of my sets are NISB now and I've always worried if there is anything wrong with them. I've probably put together 250+ sets over the years and no other problems. So that's less than 1%.

Which pieces were you missing exactly? You say they are the "extra", perhaps the pieces you are thinking of don't come with extras? Were you able to fully build the set and you just didn't have the spare parts?jikura wrote:I recently bought the friends convertible and tree house and both sets were missing pieces. We've built 6 or more Friends sets and haven't found anything missing, and have had the usual spares of cheese slopes and 1x1 round studs and the "flower" (pink or orange) which LEGO calls the "upper bracelet".
