This model by m.togami received 10,000 supporters for the LEGO Review!

"MESSAGE FROM THE PROJECT OWNER"
My name is Masashi(Project Owner) and I'd like to thank you for visiting my Page!
I'm a Huge fan of the "Back to the Future" (BTTF) series, I even remember it as the first movie I've ever seen, and I've been in love with the series ever since!
When I was a child I tried many times to build the DeLorean Time Machine, however, the project was a difficult one because I lacked some specific LEGO bricks and minifigures.
LEGO CUUSOO is where wishes come true. Also, I strongly believe quotes from BTTF.
"If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything."
"Your future is whatever you make it."
Now, my dream is to create a Back to the Future themed series through LEGO CUUSOO.
Please support and spread the word about my dream to make this a reality!

This is a great model and I would buy it if it became a set, but I'm wondering if they'll be able to get a licence agreement to produce it. The only BTTF licenced toy I've ever seen was a hot wheels car, so I'm not too worried about it.

All that TLG needs is a Paramount/Universal license. Let's hope they take yes for an answer this time!

There is so much potential for a BttF line. Since each movie takes place in a different timeline, you can bring in sets from the future era, the old west, and fifties. While waiting in line at the Grand Opening in Nashville someone pointed out that they thought the new Town Hall Modular looked like the Town Hall from BttF. Actually, it kind of does. If the building had some more width it really would look like the clock tower. We were discussing which things to add to make the last scene on the movie, when the lightning strikes the clock and travels down to the streetlight and to the DeLorean. Very cool. The beauty is that they can release the Town Hall/Clock Tower set in three versions, the old west build-in-progress version, the normal version, and the future version with the all glass front and the lake in front of the building. If you can't tell, i'm really psyched with all then new Lego lines coming out. Plus i'm a new Lego junkie. I hope my enthusiasm isn't too sickening. LOL :)

I think the main detractor on this being realized would be the age of the property. Yes, it has a 30th anniversary coming up, much like Star Wars and Indiana Jones did when their themes were launched. However, unlike those properties, there isn't another installment of the franchise planned. If The Winchester was denied based on the graphic nature of the property and the age of their target demographic vs. the rating of the movie it was based on, I think BttF might have a similar problem with the fact that a vast majority of the target demographic won't know what its based on.

All that is beside the point if they can't reach a profitable enough licensing agreement.

That said, I'm a supporter of this project (as well as The Winchester) and would love to see it come to fruition. I'm just trepidatious to get my hopes up after the thumbs-down on The Winchester.

If their target demographic doesn't understand the significance of that car then the older generations are failing to do their job. Increase generativity, spread the word. :-D

My daughter will definitely know about these movies when she's a little older...

my initial thoughts on this lego site was they would sell directly to the fans. so they do not need to worry about mass marketing and demographics.

lego is still privately owned, so lets see if they have the kahonoes to be cool or not.

BUT, considering they started outsourcing to china, i have slim hopes this car will see the light of day.

My guess would be this will not be made. Most of Lego's target demographic probably have never seen or heard of the Back to the Future franchise. That in addition to licensing fees that may need to be paid it is probably not cost effective to produce.

Can't they make a cheap $20-30 set to offset risk? I would definitely get the Delorean at that price.

Didn't Lego offer to make a delorean?

Though the fans chose the beetle and that was what was made. Could be a sign that licensing may have already been looked into at some point.

Lego_Lord_Mayorca wrote:For all the supporters and doubters alike, it looks like soon we will hear word on the Back to the Future time machine being passed review and on the way to hitting store shelves. What makes me say this? Check out the CUUSOO page. Apparently it has reached the "product" stage.

EDIT: It seems like the other three projects "in review" have also been approved and are at the "product stage". So, good news all around for fans of the Western Modular Town, Legend of Zelda, and the Eve Rifter! Personally, the BttF Time Machine has me the most excited.
