Oak Park (Overland Park, KS June 1st - 3rd)
Jersey Gardens (Elizabeth, NJ June 15th - 17th)
Alderwood (Seattle, WA June 22rd - 24th)
Northpoint (Alpharetta, GA June 29th - July 1st)

As per the others I am assuming that the Lego mini Store is only available on the Saturday of each stores event after a $35 purchase.

and as mentioned in other posts, I will be willing to paypal advance pay to anyone here with reliable posts (mod or any other high poster) if they will be able to pick me up the lego tie fighter (est $50) so that they will be able to receive the lego ministore for me as well, as I do not live anywhere near a lego store. PMs please.

what are you saying? you'll allow me to keep the lego mini-store set and send you your tie fighter set? :P or are you asking me (or anyone) to buy the set and the free gift and send both back to you? that means getting a box, taping, and mailing (i.e. work involved). :D

No, I will paypal the money for the tie fighter ($50 about) plus shipping costs, 6-8 dollars. and then a little bit more (no more than 20, for all the trouble) What I want is the lego ministore, I am just using the tie fighter as an example because it costs more than 35 (what the promotion calls for) and it is a set I want. So essentially for a little bit of trouble you will walk away with 20 bucks. As I am sending money in advance for trust reasons I require the person to at least a mod of a trustworthy poster.

Question - what is the best way for a sane person to get one of these at the store? I plan on getting to the Jersey Garden opening when Mall doors open at 10:00 AM...but, from reading other posts, I hear of people waiting in line for other openinngs at like 7:30 and such. Do Mall doors open at that time in some cases?

I made this thread before anyone realized the potential ebay gold of this item. I doubt that I will be able to get one now that they are selling for so much, I had no idea.

Call the Mall and ask what time you can get in for "mall walking". Many malls seem to open the main doors early, even though the stores are closed.

Based on the BC/WI thread, it sounds best to get to the Mall before the store opening time. If he store opens at 10, you'll need to be there before that to wait in line. I'd rather wait before the store opened if i made it more likely that I'd actually get the set. 2 hours before the store opens plus an hour after it opens is the same as 3 hours from 10 to 1, know what I mean?

Doesn't this happen with every Grand Opening?

Definitely call the mall and ask two questions - 1) What time does the mall open? and 2) What time do the doors open. The answers are not the same. As mentioned above, most malls open several hours early for mall walkers (the mall in Milwaukee opened at 6am (4 hours early!) for mall walkers, contrary to other times I've seen mentioned). Also, every mall I know of opens early to allow the employees for the stores to get in and get their stores ready (since not all stores have an outside entrance).

My advice, show up a little more than an hour before the mall opens. The lines shouldn't be that long an hour before mall opening since only hardcore fans like us know how long the lines will be. Some casual fans will show up an hour early thinking they'll be first in line, they'll be wrong. Anyone showing up when the mall opens will most likely have to wait in line for hours. I had to wait in line for hours, but at least I was allowed in the store right when it opened. I was out a few minutes later and had the rest of my day to do some more shopping and sight-seeing. Much better than spending all day in line.

Also, if you want to scout out the store, go on Friday night after 6-7pm. The store will be busy but if there is any line it won't be much of one. You should have no problem doing the pick-a-brick wall or minifig station at that time of day, but be prepared the store is likely to be a mess since the employees will have had their hands full dealing with the crowd all day long.

I agree. It's so much easier to just sit down and read a book or watch a movie/play games while you wait before the store opens, rather than shuffling in a crowded line for 3 hours. It was nice and quiet in the mall that early and Panera was open, so we had coffee and breakfast while we waited, too.

Although I didn't enjoy getting up at 4:45 to prepare for the drive up to the store, the actual waiting in line wasn't bad at all.

Oh, believe me, I was mourning my lost hour of sleep when not that many people got in line in WI between 7:30 and 8:30. I love that set, though - it was definitely a Mom's Day gift for me and not my son (although he was super happy with the Two-Face Chase we bought to get the set)!

Went to the Jersey Gardens Grand Opening this morning...

There were 400 of the exclusive sets to give out. Decent crowd, but everyone on line by the time I left should have gotten one easy.

I got there at about 9:00 AM and was about 50th on line. Luckily, right by a bunch of chairs! So I sat down, read my book, and at about 9:45 doors opened. Everything went quite well! I got a Chess Set, Exclusive VIP Minifigure Set and the PotC and AC Minifigure sets (half price) to cover the $75.00 for a free store set and a free Sopwith Camel. No issues, I may go back tomorrow for the minifigures...not sure yet...

I took my daughter and got there at 8:15, so was probably 20th in line. By 10:45 I walked out of that mall with 4 retail stores!

One of my friends actually got back on the purchase line without leaving the store. His wife and I felt it more fair to get back on the line outside but it went really quickly so no big deal.

For my first grand opening it was very exciting.

Going to Seattle this week and coincidentally the Lynnwood store is having its grand opening on the same day. Planning to pick up the GE and get another mini store set and trade it. :)

I'm excited although I expect the turnout to be pretty high for the Lynnwood store. I gotta get there really early to beat the ebayers *cough lordharrier cough* and out of towners *nudges legobrandon*
