Chicagoland - the stores I checked are on the North Shore. There was a lot more discounted for the after Christmas clearance than I've found so far for the summer.lordharrier wrote:Where are you located?

Re: Target - Summer Clearance
btw, the barcode fraud has found its way to one of my stores. this time someone returned an atlantis set with the batcave barcode. i alerted the target staff that someone defrauded the store by returning a set with the barcode fraud, but she was extremely puzzled and doesn't seem to believe me.
also, i found a variant of the "sealed return" fraud. someone opened a sebulba/anakin podracer set by cutting the seals, then carefully reseal using new lego tapes. not sure where and how they got the new tapes from.
again, i alerted the staff - this time it was the manager/supervisor and offered to buy the set but only after inspecting the contents (it was 50% off), she said it was clearanced because it was opened before but i cannot open the set to inspect but must purchase it and return in 7 days if contents were unsatisfactory. what a boat of baloney! it was clearanced because it's the end-of-line for the set, not that it was opened. also, it's just beyond common sense as to why we can't reopen something that was already opened/tampered with. what if the contents were garbage? how can i return that?
the store doesn't seem to want to do anything about fraud at all. anyway, i bought the set since it was 50% off and opened it...doesn't seem to be missing any pieces but i have to build it first to confirm.
it's just sad that fraudsters are now moving into my stores. means i need to be more careful now with my purchases.

Either that or it's time to move!

Wow. Did you bring this scam up w/ the manager?natelite wrote:btw, the barcode fraud has found its way to one of my stores. this time someone returned an atlantis set with the batcave barcode. i alerted the target staff that someone defrauded the store by returning a set with the barcode fraud, but she was extremely puzzled and doesn't seem to believe me.
At first glance, this switch appears to be really slick. But, it would be relatively easy to catch the perps, here, if they were to try it again. How many batcave's would be returned in a month/week? This would be recorded, and then flag each credit card used as a 'watch' on future returns.

That's because most stores can return that stuff for full credit.natelite wrote:the store doesn't seem to want to do anything about fraud at all.

Re: Target - Summer Clearance
I picked up the Alien Conquest UFO Abduction 7052 for $20.00 yesterday and was pretty pleased with myself. It was previously marked down to $25. They also had the Tripod Invader marked down to $15, but I paid full price for that one.
Re: Target - Summer Clearance
I just don't understand why they would reuse barcodes. Sounds silly and cost consuming. I don't give out my account number at my bank freely in assuming none would try to take all the money out.

For those who don't know, police recently caught a wealthy Silcon Valley executive switching barcodes at Target, and you won't find many places to move that are nicer than that.starfailure wrote:Either that or it's time to move!

Also, I don't like Lego's tape seals at all. Makes it way too easy for fraud.
Re: Target - Summer Clearance
Most things that were 15% in my store went to 30% today. Anything that was 30% already, stayed there. And a few items joined the clearance, such as the $70 dino set and the rest of the really overpriced Cars 2 stuff.
Re: Target - Summer Clearance
I picked up the Lighthouse set and Log Cabin today for 30% off. Not a whole lot on the shelf right now. We'll be watching for Dino sets now that someone mentioned that.
Re: Target - Summer Clearance
Picked up the Millenium Falcon for $98 (30% off) at the Addison Street (Chicago) Target today. Had been hoping to find it cheaper, but didn't have high hopes. And I've burned a lot of gas (at $3.50+ per gallon) looking for the mythical $30 WalMart Falcon.
BTW I left one more on the shelf, and they also had Destiny's Bounty for $40 (I think).

Picked up 4181 POTC Isla De Muerta for $10.48 each, which was a weird price I thought. Retails for $19.99 but they had it for $14.99. 30% off that made it $10.48 I guess.
They had other POTC sets for 30% off (the Mill) but passed. Might pick it up at 50% if it's still available.
For Star Wars, only T-6 Shuttle and Bounty Hunter Gunship are at 30%.
For City, only Marina at 30% off, and they had tons. Will wait for one hopefully at 50%.
Would love to buy Lighthouse and Log Cabin at 30% but they're still full price.
Orange County, CA.

Re: Target - Summer Clearance
I tried a store I hadn't been to in a while, they had lots of LEGO Star Wars sets on sale. But I am insulted by the sale price.
Bounty Hunter ship: sale $43.74 (was $62.49)
T-6 shuttle: sale $52.49 (was $74.99)
Sith Infiltrator: sale $61.24 (was $87.49)
Millennium Falcon: sale $122.49 (was $174.99)
A whole lot of saving a 30% can be if they jack up the price. It's barely over 10% off MSRP and I've seen better regular sale than this BS at that Target store. I bought the Millennium Falcon a few months ago (the exact same store, no less) for a hair over $100 sale (25% off $140 IIRC) so no reason to jack price up then claim clearance sale if they need to move them out and make room.

Sounds like they are turning into Targets R Us..wilykat wrote:I tried a store I hadn't been to in a while, they had lots of LEGO Star Wars sets on sale. But I am insulted by the sale price.

Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?
Re: Target - Summer Clearance
Further clearance, like 50% off of Flo's Cafe.
Re: Target - Summer Clearance
Stopped by another Target today while running errands further afield - found Dino Defense HQ and T-Rex Hunter for 30% off. This store's inventory was a little different from the others I've checked - no PotC at all, only a couple AC sets, no HP left at all. I'm wondering if this is why Dino was on clearance there? None of the other stores I've visited have had it on clearance. They also had the SW Frigate on clearance for $101 - not terribly stunning compared to the on-line price, but again, I haven't seen this on clearance anywhere else.
Re: Target - Summer Clearance
Target.com has the 7498 City Police Station for $72.09 as well. I don't know how long the price will be valid.
Re: Target - Summer Clearance
Yesterday I picked up Anakin Skywalker and Sebulba's Podracers at the Myrtle Beach Target for $45 (50% off). Last one. It was pretty picked over. They also had the Geonosian Starfighter (2-3 left) for roughly $18 but I didn't need it.

Crap, those prices on the pod racer, dino set's and the $98 falcon blow my mind. I've looked at every option in the county and cant even come close to that kind of pricing.
