I think everyone is over thinking this. If you get it awesome, don't worry about why but it is a VERY meh set, only good for parts and minifigures.

Well, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, because this was one set my 6 yr old circled in the Lego catalog for Christmas. So, a big smooch from me for the $60 you saved me! Got the only one on the shelf at my Walmart this morning.

Most Lego sets consist of parts and minifigures. That's what makes people buy them. Those two items together are good.

I feel like something that happens on this site far too often is people (either out of jealous, oblivious parade raining, or just to let everyone know their opinion) express why a deal that many find to be very good is not as good as they think. I went through this exact thing on a recent post regarding kings castle at Barnes an noble. I really just wonder why people insist on contributing to a sale/deal post with their opinion. Isn't the point to point out deals an just confirm them? If you don't like the set, don't read/contribute to the posted topic.

Not meaning to rustle any feathers, although I undoubtedly will, just giving my 2 cents.

I first scored 2 sets at the Norwich NY store before going into work (I also picked up 3 crusty crab's for $13 a set). Before leaving I asked where the other mine set was and nobody had a answer. So after work I went back to look around and guess what I found. The eye center in the store recently closed and is now a giant clearance center. I was checking around and I saw that there was more stuff in the back in the exam rooms. The first thing I lock onto is 10+ factory sealed Lego cases. I went and got an employee so that I could explore and I found the mother load. Cases of discontinued SW sets, 3 MF castles (which went missing for the $50 deal), and the other mine set. I bought the mine set, the MF castles were $99.99, and I'm pretty sure this were they're hiding all the advent calendars that I saw on a pallet one night and never showed up for sale.

Got Target to price match, plus 5% red card discount. The first Target I went to said they don't price match till the holiday season, but that was just wrong, and I didn't feel like arguing given the line behind me. The 2nd Target had a bunch of young boys as cashier/supervisor. They checked the ads, and said, that's it, the same set, price match it! The cashier told me that's a sick deal ... by the way, they took my ad away (seems like some kind of policy).

I would agree it's kinda a boring set, but as a lot of builders here do, we also buy sets for bricks.

I agree. Post to confirm a deal. Start a new thread if you think people will care about your opinion.

Thought I'd still check this morning but it was gone to my surprise actually. My local Walmart doesn't move much LEGO but it being in the ad was prolly why it's gone. Shucks. I wasn't interested in the set at all but for $40 I would of bit. xD

I picked the kindest looking cashier I coukd and after he scanned them (at the erroneous price) actually said "wow, those toys are expensive!" ;-)

Can't find any in SoCal. I don't know if I want to deal with Target's price match even though they shouldn't be an issue as it is a legitimate ad and price as I have validated it in store. But, there is always the managers who want to go against company policy.

Winchester, VA has two left. I bought one. This was the store on Rt. 50. Did not check the Winchester City, Stephens City, Martinsburg, Spring Mills, or Hagerstown stores. Only needed the one.

Which WalMart did you try? I went to the one on Crenshaw and I think it's too small of a WalMart as it didn't even have a tag for it.

One TRU price matched, and another one didn't and said there was an email going around, not to match that price.

I might try Target now, but I don't have physical ad anymore.

There's one more WalMart, but it's not that close, and not sure if I want to deal w/ the drive.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I had no intention of ever buying this set or subtheme for that matter but at that price you can't pass it up. I'll probably build the truck to put in my city and use the rest as spare bricks.

I have a lot of extra BURP pieces laying around from previous eBay mixed brick lots that I have bought...those could go a long way in making a nicer hillside with longer tunnels for the mine.

I like the light-rail train in the set, looks cool..
