Just so I remember correctly, its $10 plus regular tax on top of what it costs on Amazon UK to ship to Canada right?

ONLY if it comes via UPS. Most of the time there are no extra charges - the only times I've seen extra charges are on a few larger items. Helms Deep, a train set, and I think maybe Goblin Battle. Saying that - large Technic Helicopter, Mines of Moria, and another train set came with no extra charges.

Re: Europe Spring 2013 LEGO Sale at Amazon
I've done it once through amazon.UK and they went through UPS. I live in Ontario and I've reqd others that live in Ontario that have ordered through Amazon UKthat have gone through UPS. Seems like Ontario orders will go through them :( . If its through UPS, it only becomes around 25% off but without, it's about 30% or more.jonnyrockets wrote:ONLY if it comes via UPS. I think it depends on the shipper, like most say UPS has their import handling fee or whatever it is called. I have only ever ordered once and it came through DHL and there were no surcharges.
Re: Europe Spring 2013 LEGO Sale at Amazon
I live in Ontario and have gotten DHL before, but my shipment came from Germany so that might be why. Who knows though, its a crapshoot.Toronadian wrote:I've done it once through amazon.UK and they went through UPS. I second that! Not worth it if sent by UPS, and highly likely it will be for those that like in Ontario. Right now the set is at around $60 but after the UPS charges, tax and all then it will be $80+, which is around 20% for us that live in Ontario. Deal or no deal? Well absolutely NO DEAL!Toronadian wrote:I've done it once through amazon.UK and they went through UPS. Re: Europe Spring 2013 LEGO Sale at Amazon
I've bought a few lego sets from Amazon.uk and quite honestly it's the only place I look for the absolute best deal on lego even when factoring shipping costs. Bought two Vampire Castles a month ago when they were on for 60 pounds each. Subtract the 16.7% and only 8 pounds for shipping total and when it was all said and done they cost me only $80 each. I live on the west coast of Canada and the lego arrived in perfect condition and only took 7 business days. :) Normal prices on Amazon.uk are generally high, but they often have huge discounts and that's the time to buy I think!

Re: Europe Spring 2013 LEGO Sale at Amazon
I'm in Ontario and have orders shipped via UPS and DHL - as leppg said, the DHL orders have come out of Germany. I wish there was a way to tell in advance, but it seems rather random.
LEGO, it's not just a toy, it's an addiction... ;)

amazon inflated the msrp, the msrp should be 120, so really 44% off. When converted to your country's currency, its not that good of a deal at least for US or canada (with the current sale promotions on this)aemil wrote:Also Star Wars 9516: Jabba's Palace is down 49 %

Don't know how amazon UK charges for US or Canada shipping, however for Europe it's an extremely good price as you get the free shipping as well
Re: Europe Spring 2013 LEGO Sale at Amazon
Well I ordered a Quinjet and A goblin King yesterday and it turns out they shipped via UPS so boo. Still works out to be about 90$ for the goblin and 60$ for the Quinjet which is still not that bad. Unlikely to find a better deal right now unless you hop over to the states and get off without having to pay taxes/duty.

But that's $60 before the "UPS tax" and regular tax. After that, it's around 20-25% off, which still isn't bad I guess. The 30% off coupon about a week ago with Chapters would have probably gave me a better piece of mind without worrying whether Amazon UK delivers via DHL or UPS. It's temping though, as I've been thinking on and off on the QuinJet set but I can't get myself to pull the trigger.leppg wrote:Well I ordered a Quinjet and A goblin King yesterday and it turns out they shipped via UPS so boo. That Is actually after UPS charges. I added in the 10$ fee and 13% tax.
Which is about 35% off Canadian Retail and there's nothing wrong with that.

I'm getting 33.33 + 4.95 = 38.29 pounds when I'm shipping to Ontario. Through the google converter, that turns out to be around $59 Canadian. Then you gotta add UPS charges and regular tax.leppg wrote:That Is actually after UPS charges. I added in the 10$ fee and 13% tax.

Re: Europe Spring 2013 LEGO Sale at Amazon
Yea but that's ordering just the one thing. Shipping gets cheaper per item as you add more and it also dilutes the UPS charge.
Also my 35% is an average of the items so that might be part of the difference

OH...ok that makes so much more sense. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be doubting you; just assumed everyone bought one item at a time.leppg wrote:Yea but that's ordering just the one thing. Shipping gets cheaper per item as you add more and it also dilutes the UPS charge.

Re: Europe Spring 2013 LEGO Sale at Amazon
don't forget no one gets the bank rate or xe.com rates so add 2-3% on top - I got about $155 for the two so thats a pretty good deal. I bought the goblin king on its own as a trial (when it went for $47) to determine ups or dhl and that did not end up being as good a deal because of the ups fee and no spreading of the fee to other sets. ended up around $95-96 depending on your conversion rate used.
