Picked up 9472 for $17.08 with my red card from Target.
give a man a fish you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you lose a great business opportunity
Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
Found (4) Werewolf for $5 each @ Walmart. Strangely enough Swamp Creature was ringing up full price....

First post on Toys N Bricks, good to be here!
Probably the first post-2005 LEGO I've bought--just getting back in the swing of things you could say.
7066 Earth Defense HQ was on clearance at Toys R Us, and added an in-store 20% off single item coupon. $55 after tax, and it's a great set!

Interesting being that the coupons normally say "regular priced item".misterdirector1 wrote:First post on Toys N Bricks, good to be here!

Awesome set, I bought it from yoyo.com for about $50. Very overlooked set, a true modern day classic. One of my favorite themes ever. Love Alien Conquest. Love it so much I bought the police double bladed helicopter that was clearly going to be part of the unreleased second year.
Anyways, enough of my Alien Conquest love. I bought my first NinjaGo sets today (not including an incredibly cheap spinner I found at walmart), it's 9449; normally $70 with all the major ninjas at the time (no green or gold one) and two cool snake mini figures for $26. :)
Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
Anyone know if that 20% coupon will stack with the free Lego case and Gauntlet on a $75+ purchase offer at TRU this week? Been thinking of picking up some Lone Ranger sets and that 20% off coupon could bring a big set down to regular retail price, but the free case and gauntlet would make it an actual deal then.Brick & Blue wrote:Interesting being that the coupons normally say "regular priced item".misterdirector1 wrote:First post on Toys N Bricks, good to be here!

Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
It's a real YMMV situation, I believe. As long as your total is still above $75 after the 20% off it should work, however if the fine print on your coupon includes "not valid with any other R'Us offer" that right there is the store's excuse to not honor both promos.
Just be real nice and polite to increase your chances

Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
Well, my TRU won't do anything that goes against the computer, so if it won't automatically honor both 'deals' they won't either.
I really just hate going through the checkout process and not have everything ring up as planned. I mean, the 20% off coupon is only to counter their 20% jacked up price in the first place
Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
Found (2) Olivias House for $19 each at K-mart.
Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
I was able to get Lego The Hobbit: Goblin King Battle for 17 dollars a couple weeks back at Walmart. I originally planned on getting the Moria set (since it was also on clearance) but it was nowhere to be found (I'd been eyeing it for sometime but the price just wouldn't drop low enough when I checked).
I was still satisfied because I was able to get an 100 dollar set for under 20.
hope to see some Monster Fighters stuff on clearance next time I go, maybe even more LOTR stuff (crosses fingers for Helms Deep, Uruk Hai Army, and The Gathering).

My local Wal-Mart must have cleared out dead/old stock from their back room, because I managed to find several Harry Potter Knight Bus sets. One was a gift for someone, but I hung onto two for myself. There were four in total there. They were marked down to $20 clearance.

Love this crap.Stanley Coolbrick wrote:My local Wal-Mart must have cleared out dead/old stock from their back room, because I managed to find several Harry Potter Knight Bus sets. Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
Well I am pretty much at a loss for words. I picked up a misc auction of a selection of a bunch of pieces thrown in a box. I did notice what looked like Indiana Jones outfit but was missing his head , hat ect.
The auction didn't attract a lot of bids but I liked that it had some nice beige pieces. I paid 13.50
It turns out that it might be a complete set of:
Set 7627-1 Temple of the Crystal Skull
All the mini's are there incl all the alien skulls. The Base and all the large Mayan type design stickered pieces ect. Everything super clean.
I always wanted an Indy set and whoops I just got one haha.

Not sure why you'd leave any Hulk's Helicarriers when Hulk alone sells easily for around $20.00.
Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
I was out of town over the weekend and stopped by a Target along the highway. I noticed a Ninjago Jay's storm fighter stuck along the back of the Lego aisle. It scanned "Item not found" so I asked a guy who sent me to customer service. After looking it up they said it would be $2.56 and if I still wanted it.
Uh, OK, right around a penny a brick is my kind of deal. They also had one City excavator transport that I got for $11.98.
Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
I picked up 3 4202 sets for $6 each at a Walmart in San Antonio Texas. They were sitting on the shelf, no pricing, I just scanned it myself. Very happy about it.
Re: Steal of a Deal / Recent LEGO Purchases
Is there any rhyme or reason as to when / how they clear out this old stock? For example, if there happens to be stock to clear out, does it happen at month end? On Sundays? On the third day after a full moon?Stanley Coolbrick wrote:My local Wal-Mart must have cleared out dead/old stock from their back room, because I managed to find several Harry Potter Knight Bus sets. Can anyone who has worked at a Walmart shed some light on common practices? What are the stages on their clearance prices? Do they drop systematically over time?
I realize there is a huge luck and random factor here. but I have stopped at Walmarts hundreds of times in the past year, and never have come even close to scoring a discontinued set at a fraction of cost. Heck, I read on Brickset a few months ago that someone even came across a Taj Mahal at a Walmart, just dropped on a shelf at the end of an isle!!!

It might be the Walmart(s) you are stopping at. From what I can tell, there are regional "clearance centers" that old stock gets shipped to so it can be sold. You just have to find that store and visit it on a regular basis.Draug wrote:Is there any rhyme or reason as to when / how they clear out this old stock?
