Pirate theme
Pirate theme
Does anyone know if Lego will resurrect the Pirate theme? Or even POTC?
Before paying a fortune to add a ship to complement the Imperial Flagship I got a couple of years ago and finally built, I was wondering if there might be new ones in the wings.... And no, the LOTR ship does not count! It's just too different a theme for me to mix them.

Re: Pirate theme
There is a new PotC movie being made, so there is a chance of some more sets with the new movie.
Also the first Pirates set (I think) came out in 1989, so 2014 would be the 25th anniversary... never know...

Thanks. It's my own fault. I didn't realize how much my kids would love the ship and the pirates, and how magnificent it was going to be once built. It is really a piece of art, the picture does not do it full justice.
I take from the relative silence of the thread that most out there are "been there, done that" on the whole pirate thing...?
I know I'm late to the party! Aargh!!

Silence could mean no one here knows for sure. I missed the boat too.
Re: Pirate theme
I would suspect that the PotC theme will be re-launched with the two new movies that are being made. At that point it's pretty much a no-brainer that there will be a pirate ship, possibly more than one. I am hoping that besides whatever the new pirate ship in the new movies will be, they will finally make the Flying Dutchman.
Re: Pirate theme
Since they just released the 25th anniversary LEGO Castle collection this summer, if would make perfect sense to release a classic pirates 25th anniersary as well in 2014 (and it wouldn't compete with the potc license, since they will not use it until 2015, at the earliest).

Hear, hear!
Meanwhile, I must confess to certain eBay purchases of old Pirate sets....not happy about it, but nature abors a (lego) vacuum.
And, for some reason, eBay was much more reasonable than bricklink.

Re: Pirate theme
I agree.. i got a few smaller pirates sets real cheap on Ebay, however, I cheated ... There is a wonderful store in Canby, OR who ships and gives pretty good pricing. They do a pretty good job of letting me know when they got stuff in my interest, so I was able to pick up most of the older ships from them and saved a ton on shipping, while ensuring it was almost 100% complete, and in good condition, from a trusted source.legobacca wrote:Hear, hear!

I have to avoid going to their facebook page since I'm trying smash the breaks on my Lego purchasing in my re-adjustment period now that I've realized how much of a problem I have...
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.
