40079 Mini Volkswagen Van Review

The licensed LEGO 40079 Mini Volkswagen T1- Camper Van set is smaller version of the Creator 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van. While the larger version of this set cost $119.99 US | $129.99 Canada | £79.99 UK, this mini version is free with purchases of $75 or more at LEGO Brand Stores or Shop at Home next month from September 1-30.

The Bag

The bag is larger than most other polybag sets that you purchase at Wal-Mart, Target, etc. Its about the size of a Brickmaster bag.



The Contents

Dumping out the contents, you get another smaller bag containing smaller pieces. You also get a tiny cardboard box and the instructions sheet. In the cardboard box, you can find the sticker for the set. Definitely an improvement with the sticker protection as previous sets had stickers that usually end up being bent while in the box. The instructions is a small leaflet with the typical instructions that you will find on other sets. There is also an advertisement at the end showing 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van.

The Complete Model

The van is a lot skinnier compared to what you see on the bag (the picture looks better than the actual model). However, it is able to run on its wheels so it can provide playability for children. It gives a good representation of 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van. Overall, a decent set considering that its free with purchases above $75. Special thanks to LEGO for providing this set for us to review.

Oh darn, I was hoping it was at least minifig scale being a 4 wide van like those of the 80s sets. :( it would have given my hippie minifig a place to stay. ;)
