Is it the same build as the TRU build?

Just got off the phone and B&N said it was a build and leave it at the store, but a booklet is free.

I went to the last one at my B&N and it was a build and leave at the store event. We did get cool free posters and activity guides. My son had a great time though.
I just tried to get him on for the next one, but it's full and she said its the same as last time and they don't take anything they build.

I called the day after this was announced and They already had a waiting list at the B&N (3 of them)! I want to see what it is they are actually building , you can prolly just build it out of spare parts and stuff like you could with the last toys r us promotion car that they did.

At my Barnes and Noble they have always let the kids take the pieces home if it was a build event. The last event was a non-build, they gave activity sheets and the poster. Our event rep at B&N is great, she explained that Lego only sends her a certain number of build sets (she does not order them), so the store caps registration at the number of sets she receives.

I received an email from the local Barnes & Noble confirming my rsvp, and that specifically stated this was a take-home build event (at least at this B&N)

Took the kids to the event. They received a bag of various Legos and were told to build something from the movie with no instructions. They also go a Lego Movie Booklet. They were allowed to take everything home.

Our event was very crowded, at least 50 kids I think. The employees did a great job with check-in, issued wristbands to the kids and gave you a raffle # (instead of making people stand around filling them out). They called to confirm and asked people to arrive at 2:30 for check-in so they could start right at 3.

There were 5 large tables with bricks in boxes/bins, but they covered them with tablecloths so everyone started at the sametime. They made their announcements and then the kids could build basically anything they wanted that represented something in the movie.

Mostly it went well and the kids shared the bricks, there was a shortage of wheels/axels and general vehicle parts. My daughter was happy to see pink parts.

they raffled off movie posters and 2 small books. Kids got the activity book and could take their creation home.

overall it went well, a lot of people, but everyone seemed to be well behaved. ;-)

1st build event I have gone to. Went to Burlington, MA store. Very well run, 4 tables. Each kid got to take home their build. Only problems is that some of the bigger kids were taking all the bricks making these massive rocket ships and cars. They left only the average building blocks for kids. Employees were nice but It would have been nice if they gave each kid a small bag similar to Toys R' Us and a bigger pile for general use if they wanted to add on. We also got a nice 10-15 page activity book. I would go back again if offered. We also got free cookies which they handed out!

Our B&N handed out ziplock bags with the same pieces in each bag. Then told each kid to build what they wanted to as long as they could place it in the movie realm.

My oldest used every piece that came in the bag.......here are a few pictures.
