We registered for the Friends Meeting, but could not attend as we had a conflict. However since we paid they offered to hold the goody bag and t-shirt for us.

In addition to the t-shirt, she got:

10% off coupon
Mia's Summer Picnic Poly
Friends Poster

We did not get the bakery promo pack, which we have been looking for. I don't know if the store didn't get it or what.

It is disappointing since the value of the goodies have gone way down (I also was able to get the Mia's Summer Picnic for cheap at Target).

I'm hoping to continue to report on various club meetings. From a discussion with one of the associates that runs the meetings, it sounds like the goody bags may not include the small sets anymore....can anyone confirm/deny?

If anyone attended the January CITY meeting, please report in. Thanks!

February Club Meeting - The LEGO Movie

Post by atmail35 » Sat Feb 22, 2014 12:53 pm

We attended The LEGO Movie themed club meeting today. The giveaways:

t-shirt
The LEGO Movie accessory pack (which was free when you built something during the month)
1 LEGO Movie CMF
club Magazine
benny movie poster

10% off coupon good on LEGO movie set only, excludes Metalbeard's Sea Cow. Expires 3/31/14.

I really feel the giveaways have declined. It would have been nice to get the Piece of Resistance poly instead of the CMF, since we have all 16 already.

If anyone else attended, please report back.

ETA, ours was full to capacity as well.

Same results at Dallas NorthPark store... Except no poly bag... 20 kids in attendance... Max capacity... Agree about decline in quality...

Went to Peabody, MA store. It was crazy, they allowed 40 kids instead of normal 25. Very packed, not enough shirts for everyone, so they were offering previous Club T shirts from other meetings instead (Galaxy Squad, City or Friends).

Since so many kids, no show and tell at the end and they just had bricks for kids to play with. No LEGO movie theme.

Goodie Bag seemed to be better than others posted.

Received Tshirt, Piece of Resistance polybag, free Lego Movie accessory pack, Lego MOVIE CMF figure + 1 minifigure from create your own minifig bin since no show and tell. Also coupon was 10% off city and not lego movie.

I have never been to Lego Club meeting. Do they usually keep to theme and have bricks from certain sets or is it usually just the normal bricks. I felt I could have attended one of the local library LEGO club meetings if we wanted to just play with normal bricks.

Atmail, thanks for keeping post alive. I see you are from MA as well. Curious which store you go to for Club meetings for comparison. Thanks

Welcome to TnB, cdoobiest.

We go to the Braintree store. I had heard that some of the stores like to have more than the recommended 20-25, I can't imagine that many kids though.

I've learned to try to get there a few minutes early if you want a certain size t-shirt.

Our store takes out 4-5 Rubbermaid bins of brick. It is mostly standard bricks. In the past they used to distribute specialty parts related to the theme for the kids to use in their creation. While nothing is taken home, it seemed more fun to have some interesting parts. They also would have themed minifigs...but they seemed to have stopped that practice, I'm guessing the kids would likely fight over them and they are trying to avoid that.

I was talking with an employee one day and asked if they received specialty parts anymore for the meetings and they said that they actually could open up actual sets for parts. In the past I think they received bulk parts.

For the Friends meeting last year they did have "Friends colored" bricks.

I agree, I could host a meeting in my basement with random bricks. The kids are told to build a certain item and we did have show and tell. I think they are pretty loose with the theme...build a vehicle for Batman, build a firefighting vehicle or building. I think they could do a little more to incorporate the actual theme of the month....not sure what though ;-)

I also think stores should be more consistent in the giveaways. I mean does corporate give guidelines or does each store decide?

I'm guessing your store ran out of "Lego Movie" coupons an substituted the City ones they had left over....what was the expiration date?

I'm seriously thinking of contacting LEGO customer service to let them know the meeting have declined. I really like our store's employees, but I do think the meetings have changed a lot since we started going a few years ago.

We were in and went to Austin TX for the last club meeting.

Giveaways -
Shirt
Movie CMF
3d movie sticker thing
Magazine, catalogue, calendar
And they let the kids keep what they built, which was very cool...this is not usual for them i guess. They usually let the kids pay for a pick a brick cup and keep it there i guess.

Overall, very kind and organized event.

Took my son to the DC build. Didn't keep what we built.

We got:
Shirt
Coupon
Poster

That's it. No swag at all. I would have liked a keychain or something :)

Attended the LEGO Movie Club meeting today and it was packed.

T-shirt:

Goody Bag contents:
2014-06-28 2014 June LEGO Club Meeting TLM 001.JPG
Mini Model Build from February, Micro Manager
LEGO Movie Accessory Pack (which was free back in the spring)
10% off coupon for one LEGO Movie Set (excluding Metal Beard's Sea Cow)
Assorted Club Magazines, calendar and other publications.

Sadly we have both the MMB and Accessory pack. I wish they would go back to giving out a small set.

What did everyone else end up with?

Took Daughter in Dallas and we got same goody selections minus the 10% coupon. Was hoping for the coupon to get Emmett's Mech...

I talked with employee who runs local meeting and he said LEGO got some pretty bad feedback several months ago from all the different stores offering different grab bags and LEGO was trying to standardize things from now on.

How is it standard if you don't get the coupon?

Did your store have any LEGO Movie specific bricks/elements or minifigures? I just wonder if they have done away with that completely. They used to bring out cool pieces and minifigs for the kids to use, but it has been a while. I don't know if it was stopped because there was too much grabbing of pieces by some kids etc. They don't allow you to take the pieces home anyway, but it is not as fun to mostly build with 2x4 bricks and common pieces.

So before all the kids started to build, the leader walked around and gave each child an Emmet with Piece of Resistance on his back to play with. Idea for build time was a construction vehicle to rebuild Bricksburg. The selection of pieces seemed to be LEGO Movie based. They were black, grey, red, blue. They had some of those triangle tressle pieces. I'm pretty sure there were other unique pieces, but my daughter did her thing and then wanted to play with some Technic Vehicles by the PaB Wall (which had horses as an option!) Kids had to turn in Emmet figures at end of build.

My son and I went to the frisco store north of dallas and got everything atmail35 got in the bag. At the Star Wars event last month they brought out some Star Wars bricks for the spaceship build. This time they brought a large pick a brick cup with pieces from the melting room set in addition to the big bucket of bricks for each group.

I read all of it, atmail35. That sucks how they don't give a LEGO set, but a polybag instead. Wish I went to those when I was little but my parents didn't want me to go. And I noticed how long these posts you make! Appreciate the posts though I wish I could help. That's a lot of work!

TMNT meeting today. The bricks were very basic, each child was given a turtle to build with but had to leave everything there at the end.

Club mag
Coupon for TMNT
Shellraiser Poly
Various papers, calendars and such
TMNT shirt

In general, my son is NOT much into TMNt, but was happy and thrilled to be there anyway :)

I wish that there were a LEGO store closer to my home. My son and I recently made our first trip to a LEGO store. Even though I was at the PAB wall long after he had filled his cup (I may have enjoyed it slightly more than he did) and he became a little bored eventually waiting for me to finish he still wants to go back to the LEGO store. Even though we spent a total of 6 hours on the road (round trip) in one day he is now more eager to go back than I am and wants to know when we can go again. I dread the drive but we will eventually go back again. If we had a LEGO store closer to home we would definitely take advantage of the LEGO Club Meetings. I'm sure that he would love it.

I must add that the people working that day at the LEGO store was amazing. They found some grey bricks in the back for my son when he asked. They didn't seem at all bothered by our long time spent at the PAB wall and when my son was waiting for me to finish at the PAB wall one sort of hung out with my son and let him chat away to her about minecraft, LEGO sets and the LEGO movie. I was very impressed with their employees.

I took my son to the meeting today at the surrey BC Lego store and they built something to take down shredder. They were also given a tmnt minifigure which they got to keep along with a tshirt and the shellraiser polybag. The staff really have a way with the kids I must add.

Anyone registered for a revised 2015 meeting or heard anything reliable from a LEGO employee regarding format?
