Bricktober figures on tru.com

Post by ncbarrett » Mon Sep 26, 2011 6:24 am

TRU.com currently has them listed, as gift with $75 purchase.
But not sure how to get them into your cart.

It will be triggered to be added into the cart only during the bricktober sales. 75$ purchase???? Wasn't it 30 last year?

EDIT: Looks like the 75$ is referring to TRU's free shipping deal. It better not be 75$ purchase for the figure...

The only ones I see are $4.99 each. Shipping is free with $75 or more.

call me naive, but I really thought this would be considered a promo polybag and surely there would be no need to glue the magnet as it is a classic figure rerun....I am REALLY glad now that I do not care too much for these figures. I totally understand the magnet sets where the figures are available in sets or the sw action figure issue, since often times the minifigs generate the set sale...but c'mon man!!!

I totally wanted all 4 until I read your post pointing out they were glued and then I realized oh that's right they glue them across the board now :what?:

Sucks to Bricktober! I was down until I read this, thanks for the heads up. TRU can count me out.

Well, that's one less thing on my Oct to-to list; not interested since they are glued...

Either the glued news or the $75 min purchase would have steered me off of this. But both is a double whammy.

If they still have a B2G1 deal and they don't remove the good stuff from stock too quickly, I'll still make a purchase. But Bricktober is not off to a good start.

I am actually bummed out that the figs will be glued to the magnets. I will not be buying anything from TRU to partake in Bricktober this year. I actually forgot about the whole figs glued to magnets things and assumed these would not be.

From what I can tell, they have not actually set a price point.
Ships free with $75 is just the standard free shipping promo.
I misunderstood what they were saying thus the first post. Sorry.

Yes they will be glued, we've all KNOWN that Lego has been forced to put glue any "Minifigure" type stand alone otherwise they will get sued since they do not have an "Action Figure" license... (or something like that)....

There is a youtube video that shows you how to very quickly and easily heat up water to dissolve the glue without damaging the Minifig.... very easy work-around. Once I get home, I might even be nice enough to look up the video for ya ;)
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

It's true you can remove them but the results aren't that great:

They were only forced to start gluing the SW line and due to that they decided to be consistent with all the magnets.

"Based on new requirements, the magnet base and the minifigures will have to be permanently fixed together on LEGO Star Wars magnet sets. To ensure a consistent consumer experience across all LEGO minifigure magnet sets we have chosen to permanently fix the minifigure to the magnet base on all magnet sets moving forward from Jan 1st 2011"

Honestly, I think the decision to glue minifigures will eventually kill them off, but that's another story.

I only ended up with 2 of last years bricktober figures because the sales that went with the other two weren't any good, and I wasn't going to pay for lego I didn't want just to get a minifigure (and I wasn't interested enough to pay bricklink or ebay prices for them.)

However the two I have are still sitting on their magnet bases, so I suspect that even though the new ones are glued, I'll happily get them so long as the sale that accompanies them is good enough.

I suspect this will indeed happen, probably sooner than later.
