UCS Super Star Destroyer to more playable version?
I am just curious that I noticed a lot of the UCS models for Lego have their counterparts that are less detailed but more playable. As the case with the Super Star Destroyer, does anyone think they will eventually make a less detailed yet more playable version later on down the road? The UCS sets: death star, rebel corvette, star destroyer all have their counterparts. Just wondering is all
Re: UCS Super Star Destroyer to more playable version?
Ooo. good question. I doubt this one will get a counterpart. I don't think it can be scaled down very easily into a $100-$150 set. The scale would be ridiculously wrong. Considering this particular ship is about 100 times the size of a Regular Class Star Destroyer...
I think the only reason they added minifigs to the UCS version...was to boost the appeal. It wouldn't be nearly as popular without the bounty hunters. JMHO

I agree 100 percent with both of you... Would be cool but the size itself is a major question mark... How about creating a environment instead of ship itself in order to "adjust" to sizing? For example only create the bridge environment specifically from Executor (Super Star Destroyer) with Darth Vader's mediation chamber instead of the ENTIRE SHIP which is rationally insane! Unless someone is willing to give up one entire basement or living room for this super size ship.

I'm doubting we see a smaller scale super star destroyer as well but you never know. We do have a minifig version of the death star so it is possible.
I think it would be a good time for a remade regular imperial star destroyer pretty soon though.
There has only ever been one standard version of the Imperial Star Destroyer and that was in 2006...same year as Jabbas Sail Barge that we are about to get again...though getting that has a lot to do with the new Jabba fig. We did get the midi scale ISD version in 2010 and the recent UCS SSD (even though that is a completely different ship) so maybe that will be a reason for them to hold off on it. There was a UCS version of the Imperial SD in 2002
I always preferred the classic look of the Imperial Star Destroyer over the Super star destroyer anyway...something about the way the bridge/command center area sits on top makes it a nicer looking design and very recognizable.
Personally I would love a remade non-ucs Imperial Star Destroyer. It has been 7 years. Seems like the time should be getting close.

Scaling SSD to midi scale would be welcome. And it's about time we get another Imperial Star Destroyer.

I was under the impression midi scale sets didn't sell well and Lego wasn't likely to make any more. Maybe I'm wrong and someone knows more than me about that? It probably has partly to do with the lack of minifigs.jbrick wrote:Scaling SSD to midi scale would be welcome. And it's about time we get another Imperial Star Destroyer.
Wasn't that ISD the last midi scale set made in 2010?...and there have only been a couple midi scale ever I think
