[USA] ToysRUs FREE LEGO Ninjago Bank w/$60 Purchase
This week from December 2-8, ToysRUs America will be offering a FREE LEGO Ninjago Bank when you spend $60 or more on LEGO Construction sets. Sad sale thats probably not even worthy of mention as most of their items are marked up.

Not so fast, in-stores it is ticketed as with $60, but online it's only a $40 purchase, which the stores will match.
Then, there's a couple sets that are on sale online like the Apple Tree House 5891 and the Seaside House 7346 for $43.99 each, which they also will match, and are both below MSRP. Me, I got an Apple Tree House because it's got over 100 more pieces and got the free bank, which is Red Kai and is the same size as the big clocks.
I should replace "will match" with "should match" above there, but TRU matches their own online prices as long as they don't state "online only" which neither of these offers do.

Thanks for the tip - I knew my son would like the Ninjago bank but it didn't seem worth a $60+ purchase. I'll go for $40 on-line though (adding up the non-LEGO TMNT action figure he wanted to get to free shipping).tensor wrote:Not so fast, in-stores it is ticketed as with $60, but online it's only a $40 purchase, which the stores will match.

Unless you really wanted the bank, the Apple Tree House has been ~$35 several times on Amazon.

For some reason the bank promotion disappeared from the TRU site. Any Ideas?

There are signs all over my local TRU that they are out of banks, and there will be no rain checks.

There is currently a $25 off Lego purchases of $100 going on. You get the bank if you do that. You still have to deal with their overpricing, but if you get the total right at $100, you still get savings off of MSRP. And the bank for free. In my case, I had reward bucks that were about to expire, so I bought a Slave I (Their price $90, MSRP $80) and a Captain America set ($15 / $13 MSRP) which got it to $103, minus $25 put it at $78... which is $15 below MSRP (about 16% off). Not bad since I think Slave I has been sold out/discontinued for awhile. It looked like they found this laying around in the back or something... no damage, just dust. So, for that $78 I got both sets plus the bank for free. That was before they took off $44 in rewards... rewards that I had to spend or lose. But even without the rewards, its not a bad deal for those three items at $78.
I had so many rewards dollars from back when they did the buy 2 get 1 free sale, and I called up Toys R Us and convinced them to sell me two Death Stars, give me the Superstar Destroyer free... and buy Fire Brigade, Grand Emporium, give me Pet Shop for free. The guy I dealt with was real nice and helpful. But $1,000 in purchases gets you some rewards points!
Toys R Us really overcharges... but its not impossible to get a good deal out of them if you are persistent.
