Modulars fun build?
Modulars fun build?
Hi all. I'm usually a licensed builder kind of person. The only other sets that I have that are not licensed are the Winter Village series which I love. I'm thinking about building a modular (fire brigade to start). What do you guys think? How does it compare to building licensed sets and is it worth the money? Does it just look generic when displayed? Thanks everyone

No Lego series, licensed or otherwise, remotely compares to the Modular series. Multiple modulars lined up strikes awe into people, rivaled perhaps only by multiple Star Wars UCS sets.
Re: Modulars fun build?
Comparing it to UCS series makes it sound impressive. Maybe I'll just try one or two and see what you're talking about. Definitely sold

Building modulars is fun. Getting the credit card bill for them is not so much fun.
I found Fire Brigade to be an enjoyable build. If you like quick builds then modulars may not be your thing.

Re: Modulars fun build?
I think they look great from the outside but it SEEMS like the inside lacks detail for such a big set. And the minifigures seem very plain. But how can so many people be wrong about modulars??
Re: Modulars fun build?
There is a lot of detail on the inside of the modulars, at least in all I have built, once you see it in person you will be more convinced.
Yes the minifigures are plain, but the point is that you can replace them for whatever you want, they are not the important part of the set. And I actually like many of the plain torsos because you can use them for other purposes without having to wipe the printing.
If you go for the firebrigade, amazon is not a good place right now as it is in the 170+ range. they had them in the 119 before... who knows, if you wait they might have them back to that, or you could search BL. There are plenty there for reasonable prices right now, which might beat S@H after tax and shipping. I have a few for 155-157 but shipping would probably kill it depending on location. That said there are other sellers on BL with cheaper prices for this set.

Check those out, and it might give you an idea of what a "row of Modulars" might look like and if it's something you are interested in. It is a hefty investment for sure.

I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.
