Target Lego item not not in store DB

I had an odd experience today in a local Target. I was walking past the checkout lines tryign to see if perhaps they had CF9 figs there when I noticed a Harry Potter Potion lab poly bag... I found this very odd as I had gotten them clearanced last year at .39. I took it to an in store scanner and it rang up as 0.00 Item not found.
So I am guessing this item was not moved to salvage after the 90% clearance expired. I was wondering if anyone else had experience with this and if Target just moves them to salvage if you find them or if you can get them for the last known clearance price?

This is unfortunately quite common where I am. They do not allow you to purchase the item at the last clearance price. I found an Ewok Attack that rang up item not found a couple weeks ago, and cs told me she would let me buy it for $22.99, but otherwise it would have to go to salvage. All HP Labs ring up Item Not Found here - you have to purchase them for $3.99 (or whatever the current polybag price is).

Every time I've found a post-clearance item that rings up as not found, they immediately take it/them from me with a cursory "we can't sell you this".

I was extremely lucky recently. They had a DINO HQ, wch they claimed was never sold in our store or region, and it did look like a tag had been ripped off where a clearance tag would normally be. After about 20 minutes, a pricer put a sticker on it for ----- $12.56!!!!!! I asked if she was sure, and then left so thrilled. It was a set my son really wanted, but I didn't but I am sure you can understand. So, keep trying :)
