Got the April 12-18 flyers early this week.
Here is this week's sale at TRU.
20% off Super Heroes, Monster Fighters, and Hero Factory
- excludes clearance and Iron Man 3 sets
I guess I have to wait for IM3 sets to go on sale

^ Probably won't get a better deal anytime soon as there appear only S@H/Lego Stores or ToysRUs who sell this in Canada.

Does Toys R Us Canada pull the same BS as their American stores? By that I mean do they increase prices and pull stock depending on their current sale?
I figure the cheapest we can get this in the States is in November when S@H does their Cyber Monday promo. $180 - 10% + Free Shipping + VIP Points = $162. ($174.96 /w NY State Sales Tax) Then add on HST at the border you are at $200 or so (Closer to $190 if you factor in the VIP Points).
At TRU it will work out to $188.71 with taxes in Ontario.

No they don't jack up prices for sales like they do in the U.S. They had the same sale on MF sets a couple weeks ago and I bought a HH, which is the best price I'm sure we'll ever see in Canada. If anyone is on the fence and hasn't seen this set in person it really is a cool set.

But the product will disappear 1 second after the sale goes live. Best to buy before the sale and then ask for price protection once the sale starts...but it takes time for credit to appear.

Takes a week for the credit - not too bad. They won't issue the credit until it's actually been shipped out. They are usually not pleased that they have to do this. One time I got a run-around because they said the item was not in-stock any longer and that they would not be matching it... depends on whom you talk to. Hang up and try again.
Always cheaper to get this set in the US - pretty much anything and everything is cheaper there...

Cover your butt and get a confirmation number for the credit as well in case it doesn't show up. They should send you an email within a day saying the credit was submitted and then it will appear on you credit card a week or so later.

Lego store sells it for $199, and if you wait for their scratch and save, minimum you get is 10%, which will be $180 plus the $5-10 in VIP points and whatever monthly promo they are giving out at the time. I say it will be the same as this unless you get 20% or more, then it is better off to shop at the Lego store. By the way same can be said on the set below.

When do Lego stores usually have scratch and saves? The Lego store in Edmonton won't open until Summer/Fall so I'm unfamiliar with promos they offer. Do Canadians ever get a 10% off coupon in catalogs like Americans do?

the asylum is only 160 in the states regular price (S@H), so even with the 20% off, its cheaper to buy it in US

Same as the 10224 Town Hall. Once I saw the CND MSRP of this jail, I never thought of getting it from Canada without decent discount. The difference was too much.

Lucky for you guys who live in US Border proximity - I am not even close to the US - so no way to get this at US MSRP.

I ordered mine at like 12:05am
I didn't want to miss out by waiting for the price to be adjusted, so I just bought at full price. I tried waiting last month when they had the same deal and they sold out!
Looks like I'll be contacting them to make the adjustment, but as per other posts, they are usually pretty good about doing it.

I looked online at 10:30 pm Mountain time (12:30am eastern) and it was not on sale yet. Then I looked again at 5:30 mountain time (7:30 eastern) and it was on sale but already out of stock. BUT
Thanks to this thread, I bought one yesterday, and just now a VERY nice lady at toyrus issued me a $42 refund. She said they handle American and Canadian sales, so that must be why they aren't too concerned about the crazy things Canadians have to do to get these things at a reasonable price.
Does anyone know about what time of day the sale kicks in on line... obviously between 12am and 7:30am Eastern time...
It is SO nice not to have to buy it in the States and lug it back home. Thanks so much for the tips! We're going to have so much fun assembling this before Halloween (if we can wait that long...)

If it remains out of stock online, you can always go into your local TRU (assuming they are large enough to stock it) and get a Rain Check on it if they don't have one. That way you will be able to buy it at the 20% off price next time they have one in stock, even if it is after the sale is over.
Edit: I just saw it says 'Online Only' on the website, but that isn't necessarily true. My TRU has had this in before, and when I went in today they have 2 more scheduled to be delivered this week.
